Mother Tongue Technical Translators

We only work with qualified, accredited technical translators working into their mother tongue, as well as established translation agencies around the world. Because language is constantly changing, the translations are prepared directly in the target country, to cover all the nuances of the target market.

Terminology Management and Glossary Creation

The basis of any localisation and translation project should always be the creation of a detailed glossary. Taking into account existing company-specific terminology and the customer's requirements, a unique glossary is created, approved by the customer, and then constantly expanded over the course of the project.

The use of glossaries and optimised terminology management have the following advantages:

  • reduction of translation time and translation cost - increased ROI
  • a high level of terminology consistency within a project in all project areas (e.g. from software menus and dialogues to messages, manuals and Online Help)
  • a high level of terminology consistency in subsequent projects
  • a "company-wide language" - leading to improved communication with customers, employees and colleagues

Translation Memory Products

A Translation Memory is a kind of text database containing translated text segments where the source language and target language segments are assigned to each other as pairs. This method is particularly suited to the translation of texts containing a lot of repetitions and for new versions of documents that have already been translated.

The advantages are:

  • reduction of translation time and translation cost - increased ROI
  • optimum terminology consistency by using text segments from previous projects

At SAM Engineering, all translations are performed using Translation Memory systems. We use Trados , as well as the advanced technology of Alchemy CATALYST™. This product was originally developed by Corel Corporation Ltd., Dublin/Ireland, specifically for software localisation, before being taken over in 2000 by Alchemy Software Development Ltd. in Dublin. From this time on it has been continuously improved. We also use integrated multilingual terminology management systems such as (STAR) and MultiTerm (Trados). The systems we use depend on the type of documentation we are translating.

We do not charge for text expansion and we only calculate our rate per word based on the source document.
